Little David was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- fireman, policeman, salesman, doctor, lawyer, etc.
David was being uncharacteristically quiet and so he teacher asked him about his father. "My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and make love with him for money."
The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little David aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?" "No," said David, "He works as a conservative adviser for the president, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."
Did you laugh? That joke is meant to show how bad it’s supposed to be to be a conservative. Is it really that bad, or bad at all? I don’t think so. I am proud of what I am. Jokes like that are pretty much the norm in the church and community groups that I associate. A group that I am one of the few individuals that proudly expounds their moral and political beliefs.
I believe that being a conservative is more about morals rather then politics. I believe in absolutes, in right and wrong, in preserving the best of the past while putting the worst behind us. I believe the words “liberal” and “conservative” were co-opted by the extreme left and the extreme right. I believe that we need to put an end to this. We need to all come closer to the center and stop fighting. We are more alike then we are different. Both sides have their quirks.
Q: How do you tell the difference between a liberal and a conservative?
A: Easy. Watch a man drowning fifty feet offshore.
-The conservative will throw out 25 feet of rope and shout, "swim for it!"
-The liberal will toss out 50 feet of rope, drop his own end, and go off to do another good deed.
In the city of Riverside we are suppose to have a non-partisan form of government, yet the political affiliations of the complete City Council seems to be known by most of the active political community. We should be focusing on other things, such as recent, actions, voting history, and moral fortitude.
It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican, conservative or liberal, tall or short. We all have great ideas, views, or thoughts that we want to share that others may not agree with, or hold in as high esteem.
A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a liberal Democrat. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were liberal Democrats too. Not really knowing what a liberal Democrat was, but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands flew up into the air. There was, however, one exception. A girl named Lucy had not gone along with the crowd.
The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. “ Because I’m not a liberal Democrat.” Then, asks the teacher, “What are you?” She answered, “Why I’m a proud conservative Republican,” boasts the little girl.
The teacher, a little perturbed and her face slightly red, asked Lucy why she is a conservative Republican. `Well, I was brought up to trust in myself instead of relying on an intrusive government to care for me and do all of my thinking. My Dad and Mom are conservative Republicans, and I am a conservative Republican too. `
The teacher, now angry, loudly says, “That’s no reason! What if your Mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?” She pauses, and lets out a smile. Then Lucy says, “I’d be a liberal Democrat.”

Hi Democrats,
I received this email, and thought I would share it with you all. What are your thoughts to this young man?
Personally I'm not sure that two morons make a liberal democrat, since the current president has proven that the republican party is full of morons. What is being conservative, conservative means you just go along with the flow, and do nothing to protect your rights. So if you feel invisible as a conservative you should, Why? Because you are. A conservative believes in religion, but promotes war and not peace. A conservative wants to have a say, but will not vote. A conservative will tell you that a women's right to chose and abortion is wrong, but will stop and buy his spouse and daughter infertility drugs.

Aric,
I admire what you are trying to accomplish. It is
difficult to get people to think for themselves and
act accordingly. It is even more difficult to express
strong opinions without contradicting yourself. Keep
trying for I enjoy reading your blogs.
Peace
Paul,
I believe that you missed my point completely. My message is about the harm, bad feelings, and un-necessary hurt these types of attitudes produce. My blogs are written tongue-in-cheek. I believe in a bipartisan/non-partisan type of government, especially at the local level. I want people to come together under one umbrella of good will and common interest, with the understanding that we all need not think alike, be the same race, make the same amount of money, or believe in the same God. It is meant to stimulate conversations and posts to my blog page.
Aric,
You are right on target, we have to much false conflict in politics, church, and our personal lives. We need to come together, but yet think for ourselves with out sticking to the party line. There are Democrats and Republicans that I am ashamed of, and both Democrats and Republicans that are morons.
